Uttar Dinajpur:<\/strong> West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday snubbed TMC MLA Abdul Karim Chowdhury for demanding that Islampur, which he represents, be separated from Uttar Dinajpur and be made a separate district at an administrative review meeting. She clearly rejected the demand.<\/p>\n Terming Abdul Karim’s attitude as “cheap”, a visibly annoyed Mamata Banerjee, asked the Islampur MLA to concentrate on working for the people instead.<\/p>\n She said, “You see how big that area is. You have won the elections, now work for the people. That (a separate Islampur district) will not happen now”.<\/p>\n She goes on to say, “If the MLAs think they will speak whatever they want, then I will not allow the legislators to speak…They will tell me to make a district in their house\u201d.<\/p>\n Astonishingly, she said if the public representatives are allowed to speak, they speak like that.<\/p>\n Though, the public representatives are meant to speak for the people who have voted to speak for them.<\/p>\n It\u2019s worth mentioning that the 10th time MLA Abdul Karim Chowdhury is the senior political leader and said to be the founder member of the TMC.<\/p>\n People from his constituency have shown anger on social media after Mamata\u2019s misbehavior with Chaudhary.<\/p>\n Interestingly Islampur is already a police district where a Superintendent of Police is appointed.<\/p>\n AIMIM is already vocal about the fact that Muslim populated areas are given only police stations and not other facilities.<\/p>\n
