Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday threatened to carry out protests similar to that of farmers to get back the rights snatched by the Centre.<\/p>\n
Addressing party workers on the occasion of the death anniversary of his father and founder of NC Sheikh Mohammd Abdullah at his mausoleum on the banks of Nigeen Lake Hazratbal in Srinagar, Abdullah asked the party men to be ready for staging the similar protests as that of Indian farmers carried out for getting back the rights snatched by the Centre. Dr Farooq directed NC workers and leaders to remain in touch with people on ground in every village and locality and help them to redress their grievances.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of you have to be steadfast. Centre repealed farm laws after the sacrifices of 700 farmers. We may also have to offer similar sacrifices to get back the rights that have been snatched from us by the Centre,\u201d he told the workers gathered at the mausoleum to offer \u201cFateh\u201d.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of NC workers and leaders had assembled at Hazratbal to pay tributes to NC founder on this death anniversary amid pouring rains. Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah\u2019s recent statement that post abrogation of Article 370, J&K is witnessing peace and tourism, Abdullah said that \u201cif tourism is picking up in Kashmir, does that mean \u201c tourism is everything,\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
He said it was after massive resistance shown by the families of three slain persons of Hyderpora that the administration had to exhume bodies of two and hand them over to their families for proper burial. \u201cThe body of the third innocent is yet to be handed over to his family in Udhampur,\u201d Abdullah said. He asked party men to start public outreach programs and stay connected with people in every village and locality across Kashmir.<\/p>\n
