India will soon build ships for the world says Rajnath Singh after commissioning INS Visakhapatnam on Sunday and said there\u2019s \u201cno doubt\u201d that India will be building ships \u201cnot only for our own needs but also the needs of all over the world\u201d as he commissioned INS Visakhapatnam into the Indian Navy.<\/p>\n
He added that the system features of INS Visakhapatnam are not only going to meet the needs of today but also the future. \u201cIts commissioning reminds us of our ancient, medieval India’s maritime power, shipbuilding skills, and glorious history,\u201d Singh added.<\/p>\n
During his speech to the gathering after the commissioning at the naval dockyard in Mumbai, Singh said that India envisions an Indo-Pacific region that is based on rules, has freedom of navigation, and universal rules, \u201cin which the interest of all the participating countries are protected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Singh noted that India being an important nation in the \u201csecurity\u201d of the Indo-Pacific region, the role of the Indian Navy \u201cbecomes more important.\u201d<\/p>\n
Citing reports that by 2023, the expenditure on security around the globe will reach $2.1 trillion, the defense minister said that India now has the \u201cfull opportunity\u201d to make complete use of its \u201ccapabilities\u201d and move towards making the nation \u201can indigenous shipbuilding hub.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rajnath Singh hailed the Indian Navy’s \u201cconsistent efforts\u201d to take part in several outreach programs of industries and increase indigenized items under \u2018float\u2019, \u2018move\u2019 and \u2018fight\u2019 categories. \u201cIt is important for us to maintain the momentum of the success we have achieved so far,\u201d the defense minister said during his address.<\/p>\n
With the help of Make in India initiatives, he pointed out, the Indian Navy has provided 76 percent Air Operations Net (AON), and 66 percent cost-basis contracts to the country’s vendors in 2014. Furthermore, indigenization of about 90 percent of Naval Ammunition has also happened.<\/p>\n
The defense minister said that India now has \u201cfull opportunity\u201d to make complete use of its capabilities and move towards making the nation \u201c<\/p>\n
