Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called for a collective effort from all citizens towards achieving the goals of the country.<\/h2>\n

He said, “Our country can achieve its goals only if we remain united. India is not just a geographical unity but is a nation replete with the generous standards of ideals, notions, civilization, and culture. This land mass where 130 crore Indians live is an integral part of our soul, dreams, and aspirations,\u201d the PM said while addressing the nation on the occasion ‘National Unity Day, which is being celebrated across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. <\/a><\/p>\n

He reemphasized the power of \u2018sabka prayas\u2019 in the fight against the Corona pandemic as new COVID hospitals, essential medicines, 100 crore doses of vaccines were made possible due to the united efforts of every citizen.<\/p>\n

PM Modi said Sardar Patel wanted a strong, inclusive, sensitive, and alert India which has humility as well as development. The PM said “It is due to Sardar Patel’s inspiration that India is becoming fully capable of dealing with any challenges whether internal or external. “Country\u2019s resolve and capabilities in water, sky, land, and space are unprecedented and the nation has started moving on the path of the new mission of ‘aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance).”<\/p>\n

He also said, “This \u2018Azadi ka amrit kaal\u2019 is of unprecedented growth, achieving difficult goals and building the India of Sardar Saheb\u2019s dreams. \u2018Ek Bharat\u2019 meant equal opportunities for all, including women, Dalits, and deprived, where housing, electricity, and water is within reach of everyone without discrimination.”<\/p>\n

Discussing several steps taken by the Central government to strengthen the country in the last seven years, Modi said that the country got rid of unnecessary old laws, strengthened the ideals of unity, and emphasized on connectivity and infrastructure which has reduced geographical and cultural distances. India has now become a favorite destination of “investment”, he added referring to the recently launched PM GatiShakti National Master Plan to harness the collective power of government departments, the PM said that if along with government, people\u2019s \u2018gatishakti\u2019 is also leveraged, nothing is impossible. Our every, action should be marked by consideration for wider national goals.”<\/p>\n

However, PM Modi’s comments seem to contradict the recent moves of the BJP government’s leaders<\/a> making statements towards making India a Hindu Rashtra,<\/a> meaning, working towards a majoritarian nation.\u00a0 Can India ever be a Hindu Rashtra<\/a>?<\/p>\n

While #NarendraModi statements are good here, he never has openly condemned religious hatred or riots while happening, has maintained a sanctimonious silence, almost like an approval. Thus actions speak louder than words.\u00a0 It is expressed below that while he went to Rome to meet Pope Francis, here in India, Christians are being harassed, called rice bags, and churches are under attack and spied upon by the government.<\/p>\n
