Delhi gangster Jitender Mann ‘Gogi’ was being produced in court when members of the rival “Tillu gang” entered, dressed as lawyers, and opened fire.\u00a0 Jitender Gogi was allegedly shot dead by a rival gang inside a court complex.<\/p>\n
All three gangsters were killed in a shootout inside the courtroom in Delhi leaving several people injured and sparked sharp questions about security in what should be a heavily protected and sanitized zone.<\/p>\n
In videos, gunshots are heard in court, and policemen and lawyers are seen rushing around in the building at Rohini in north Delhi.<\/p>\n
The gunmen disguised as lawyers broke into the court hearing and shot gangster Jitender Gogi three times. Special force personnel escorting the gangster then fired back, killing both the attackers on the spot. A total of 30 bullets were fired.<\/p>\n
Jitender Gogi, a notorious gangster involved in several criminal cases and jailed at Tihar since last year, was declared dead in hospital. A rival gang, going by the name \u201cTillu Gang\u201d, had plotted to kill him when he was brought for his court hearing today, said the police.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo from rival gang opened fire at Jitender Gogi inside the court. That when police retaliated and killed those two assailants,\u201d Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe police acted swiftly and killed both the assailants. Total three dead, including Gogi,\u201d said Mr. Asthana.<\/p>\n
The incident reveals a terrible security lapse on court premises.<\/p>\n
A lawyer, Lalit Kumar, said: \u201cThe judge was in court, lawyers were present and Jitender Gogi was there. These two lawyers (who turned out to be shooters dressed as lawyers) walked in and started shooting. An inter was also shot.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gogi, born Jitender Mann, was arrested in March last year and was considered a big catch for the Delhi police.<\/p>\n
The incident has raised questions about whether metal detectors at the court were working and if they were, how the armed men could get past.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe question on whether the metal detectors were not working in the court premises is a matter of investigation and I cannot comment on that at the moment. We are already investigating the case and we shall not spare anyone who is involved in this shootout. No one will be spared,\u201d Mr. Asthana said.<\/p>\n
He also said, \u201cDelhi Police is doing its job seriously. We were effective and focused and that is why the shooter was successfully neutralized. We will say more after a detailed investigation is carried out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Updates on the investigation revealed that Jatheri had planned Fajja\u2019s release so that they could launch plans to help gangster Jitender alias Gogi\u2019s escape from police custody. The plan was to use Fajja and Gogi to eliminate rivals, especially \u2018Tillu\u2019.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the shooting incident at Delhi’s Rohini court, Sanjay Singh, the AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP, hit out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Twitter demanding Amit Shah’s resignation.<\/p>\n
A\u00a0 senior source said, “We will improve security mechanisms in the courts. A report will be given soon how weapons reached court premises.”<\/p>\n
