India observes Teachers’ Day on September 5 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvopalli Radhakrisnan, the first Vice-President and second President of independent India (from 1962-67).<\/p>\n
Across the world, World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is an international day held annually on 5 September. Established in 1994 it honors the signing of the 1966 UNESCO\/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that addresses the status and situations of teachers around the world.<\/p>\n
This proposal outlines standards relating to education personnel policy, recruitment, and initial training as well as the continuing education of teachers, their employment, and working conditions.\u00a0 World Teachers’ Day aims to focus on “appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world” and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.<\/p>\n

World Teachers\u2019 Day is celebrated on October 5, but every country celebrates the day on different dates.<\/p>\n
In India, it is marked on the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who was the first Vice President of India (1952\u20131962) and also a highly-respected teacher, philosopher, and prolific statesman. Dr Radhakrishnan went on to become the second President of India (1962-1967) and was of the opinion that \u201cteachers should be the best minds in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
We celebrate by sending cards to our teachers, gifts, roses, and students also conduct songs, concerts, drama, and other stirring events for their teachers. Due to the pandemic, over the last two years, teachers and students have been homebound and this year, virtural greetings were exchanged.<\/p>\n
