Now on Wednesday, September 1, the state-owned petroleum companies raised the rates from this day onwards. The price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders was increased by \u20b925 once again, after a consecutive hike of the same amount over two months. Due to the recent revision in LPG rates, the price of a non-subsidized cylinder in Delhi weighing 14.2 kg went up to \u20b9884.50 while one weighing the same costs \u20b9911 in Kolkata.<\/p>\n
After the hike, a 14.2 kilogram of a domestic cylinder would now cost \u20b9884.50 in Delhi. In Mumbai, a non-subsidized LPG cylinder will now cost \u20b9884.50 as well. One has to pay \u20b9911 for a cylinder in Kolkata, the highest among the four metros. The new LPG cylinder price rate is effective from September 1.<\/p>\n
Additionally, as cooking gas rates rise, the prices of commercial gas cylinders used in restaurants and eateries have also gone up. The price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder has gone up by \u20b975 to currently cost \u20b91,693 in Delhi, while the same costs a tremendous amount of \u20b91,770.50 in Kolkata. Meanwhile, gas prices are on the rise but petrol and diesel rates have come down marginally on this day. Petrol prices fell by 10 paise at the Indian Oil petrol pump, while diesel has become cheaper by 14 paise.<\/p>\n
LPG cylinders are available at a fixed rate across the nation. The central government, however, provides a small subsidy to select customers to make up for the higher price arising from freight charges. LPG prices are revised at the beginning of every month based on the average international rate for benchmark fuel and foreign exchange rate in the previous month.<\/p>\n

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slams the government for the fuel price hike in an interaction with the press stressing that the rise in prices hit the public directly, and indirectly affects everything as the costs of all products rise. He brought out the bad effects of demonetization and then monetization.\u00a0 Rahul Gandhi said that demonetization affects the farmers, the small shops, small businesses, and salaried class, while monetization is directly benefiting the few friends, around four to five tycoons friends of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and in this economic transfer built their empires further.<\/p>\n
Rahul Gandhi also said that the government keeps saying that the GDP is rising and said with a glimmer of humor, and a jibe at the government that he finally understood what the government meant by the GDP is rising and said, they meant “gas, disease, and petro are rising!”<\/p>\n
