On Thursday, approximately 100 people were killed, including at least 13 U.S. service members and 90 Afghans, at the Kabul airport in the twin blasts.<\/p>\n
The USA is suspecting \u201can attack is highly likely in the next 24-36 hours.\u201d The US Embassy in Afghanistan also released a security alert warning all US citizens to immediately leave the vicinity of Hamid Karzai International Airport “due to a specific, credible threat.”<\/p>\n
It is reported that US forces killed two members of the Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K), a splinter group of the Islamic State who claimed responsibility for Thursday\u2019s deadly attack at the Kabul airport.<\/p>\n
The US military commanders speculate that another terror attack like the deadly suicide bombing at Kabul airport is \u201chighly likely in the next 24-36 hours,\u201d President Joe Biden said in a statement that a US drone strike targeting the Islamic State-Khorasan group, which claimed responsibility for Thursday\u2019s carnage at the airport, was \u201cnot the last.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe situation on the ground continues to be extremely dangerous, and the threat of terrorist attacks on the airport remains high. Our commanders informed me that an attack is highly likely in the next 24-36 hours,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n
The United States also warned of a \u201cspecific, credible threat\u201d near Kabul airport and urged its citizens to leave the area, days after a deadly attack on crowds fleeing Taliban rule in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
In an address following the Kabul attack, US President Joe Biden had said, “To those who carried out this attack, as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay. I will defend our interests and our people with every measure at my command.”<\/p>\n
The situation remains tense as the US has predicted more attack sequels after the horrific Kabul bombings where even innocent civilians and children lost lives.<\/p>\n
