Rahul Gandhi, the top Congress leader, All India Congress Committee Secretary who arrived in Kashmir on a two-day visit said that Jammu and Kashmir were \u201cunder the direct assault from New Delhi\u201d, and said that the Government of India should restore full statehood to Jammu Kashmir and conduct the elections in a free and fair manner.<\/p>\n
Rahul said that he can feel the pain of the people of Jammu Kashmir, \u201cMy message to you is that I am with you to build a relation based on love and honour. I am fighting against PM Modi. My fight is against Modi\u2019s ideology and the violence he is preaching besides his mission of breaking India. I will continue to fight till victory\u201d the Congress leader said as per per news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO).<\/p>\n
On speaking to the crowd at Jammu Kashmir Congress headquarters at Moulana Azad Road here, Rahul said today that there is not the assault on Jammu Kashmir only but other parts of India also like Tamil Nadu, Bengal and other States. \u201cBut one thing is clear that Jammu Kashmir is under direct assault from New Delhi while other parts are facing an indirect attack.”<\/p>\n
He also said the Congress party has a clear stand for Jammu Kashmir, \u201cStatehood should be restored in full and there should be Assembly polls in a free, fair and transparent manner.”<\/p>\n
Replying to senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad\u2019s suggestion regarding seeking a bill in the parliament to press for the restoration of Statehood for Jammu Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi replied, \u201cI am not allowed to speak in the Parliament, I can\u2019t speak about Raffle, unemployment and corruption. They (BJP) have attacked the judiciary, Lok Sabha and even the voice of media stands muzzled, Journalists can\u2019t write what they want to.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said that when there was a Congress government in Jammu Kashmir, major schemes like Udaan were launched and Panchayat polls were held. \u201cWe brought experts to Kashmir University and sent Kashmiri youth to other states of India but they (BJP) attacked this process too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said Jammu Kashmir people have an age-old culture of love, honour and whatever \u201cyou want to do for people Jammu Kashmir should be based on love and honour, if you start your hatred for people of Jammu Kashmir, nothing can be achieved,\u201d Rahul said in an open reference to BJP.<\/p>\n
He said earlier, during COVID and post abrogation of Article 370, he tried to visit Jammu Kashmir, but was denied all the time.”<\/p>\n
Rahul Gandhi also said that he has a connection with Kashmir as his ancestors were living in Valley. \u201cToday, my family lives in Delhi, before that they were living in Allahbad and before that, they were living in Kashmir. So I have inherited a tinge of Kashmiriyat that lies inside me\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rahul said he will visit Jammu and Ladakh very soon- according to Kashmir News Observer (KNO).<\/p>\n
