Tamil Nadu elections were showing marked inclines leading to the return of the DMK, led by MK Stalin, son of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the late iconic M. Karunanidhi, and the DMK overtook the ruling AIADMK front after a ten-year gap. It is notable that this is the first time both DMK and AIADMK went to the polls independently without the buttress of the late K Karunanidhi and late J Jayalalitha and now MK Stalin is all set to be chief minister for the first time.<\/h1>\n

The DMK Congress alliance is leading in 111 Assembly constituencies, while the AIADMK front is ahead in 94 segments, according to trends provided by the Election Commission for 206 seats.<\/p>\n

Previously MK Stalin won from his Kolathur constituency by winning over 33,000 votes and scolded rejoicing DMK workers in Chennai as they celebrated at the party headquarters ignoring COVID-19 norms. His son and DMK Youth Wing secretary Udhayanidhi, defeated PMK rival AVA Kassali by a margin of 69,355 votes in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister K Palaniswami is leading in his home segment of Edappadi in Salem district, while Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam is trailing his main rival, DMK\u2019s Thanga Tamilselvan, a former party colleague, by a thin margin.<\/p>\n

On MK Stalin’s big win, a number of top political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, AAP leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, BSP leader Mayawati, and many others congratulated Stalin, who is all set to become the next chief minister of the southern state, for the DMK\u2019s victory. DMK’s great comeback<\/span><\/p>\n

Superstar Rajinikanth, who backed out of politics some time ago after falling ill, also wished the DMK chief. \u201cI wish my friend MK Stalin all the best for the forthcoming term as chief minister. May he perform to the fullest satisfaction of all people of Tamil Nadu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

MK Statin on responding to the Prime Minister’s good wishes said, “Thank you Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi for your kind wishes. I look forward to working with the Union Government to fulfill aspirations of the State. Through federal co-operation, I am sure we will overcome COVID-19 and chart the post-pandemic growth story: DMK chief MK Stalin.<\/p>\n

Tamil Nadu had gone through a rocky phase of politics after Jayalalitha’s sudden death with Sasikala holding MPs “randsom” in a resort trying to take over the party when Panneerselvam close aide to Jayalalitha who was never allowed to meet her when she was ill, suddenly had an eureka movement stating there was foul play in her death by the hand of Sasikala . DMK’s great comeback<\/span><\/p>\n

With the help of the BJP<\/a>, Panneerselvam was able to become the chief minister, but during elections Palaniswami became the CM while Panneerselvam became deputy CM.\u00a0 Recently, Sasikala was sacked by the AIDMK and faded out of the picture.\u00a0 The DMK’s rise in politics marked clear approval of the people of Tamil Nadu wanting their Dravidrian roots clearly grounded in the midst of BJP’s Hindutva politics which most of Tamil Nadu have rejected. There comes a time when people are tired of religious politics, especially in the devastation of the COVID storm.<\/p>\n
