New Delhi: The matter of the alleged Mumbai police extortion case was raised in the Lok Sabha on Monday with the ruling party questioning the fate of Maharashtra state if an Assistant Sub-Inspector was asked to extort Rs 100 crore per month.<\/p>\n
The opposition parties alleged that the ruling party was plotting to bring down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n
Manoj Kotak of the BJP raised the issue saying the letter of a former Mumbai Police Commissioner has revealed how the Maharashtra government is recovering Rs 100 crore from an assistant sub-inspector-level officer.<\/p>\n
He said, ‘This is shocking. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra should resign.’<\/p>\n
Rakesh Singh of BJP questioned as to why an assistant sub-inspector was reinstated after a 16-year suspension.<\/p>\n
“NCP leaders, till yesterday, were saying that action should be taken, but this morning their tune has changed” the BJP member alleged.<\/p>\n
“Is it because of fear that the Maharashtra Home Minister will spill the beans?” Mr. Singh wondered.<\/p>\n
Mr. Singh said that the Maharashtra government is silent on why an ASI was asked to recover a hundred crores.<\/p>\n
The government, including the Chief Minister, should resign and this entire matter needs to be investigated by the central agencies, the BJP member said.<\/p>\n
Defending the state government, Shiv Sena Member Vinayak Raut alleged that the BJP has been conspiring to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi for a long time.<\/p>\n
