A traditional ceremonial reception was accorded to President Murmu, highlighting the significance of this historic occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the importance of the visit, stating on X, &#8220;A landmark in India-Fiji relations! President Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn arrived in Suva, marking the first visit by an Indian President to Fiji. PM @slrabuka of Fiji welcomed her at Nausori Airport with full state honors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During her time in Fiji, President Murmu reviewed the progress of the &#8216;Solarization of Heads of State Residences&#8217; project, an initiative launched by India in February 2023, showcasing India&#8217;s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.<\/p>\n<p>This visit is part of President Murmu&#8217;s broader three-nation tour, which includes subsequent stops in New Zealand and Timor-Leste. The tour emphasizes India&#8217;s dedication to its Act East Policy, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a decade ago, aiming to enhance diplomatic and economic ties in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>In New Zealand, President Murmu will meet with Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, from August 7-9.
