Long lines of residents<\/strong> were seen queuing up on Saturday to fetch water from tankers<\/strong> across various parts of Delhi, as the city continued to endure the scorching summer heat.<\/p>\n

Morning visuals captured scenes from Chilla Gaon in Mayur Vihar, Sanjay Colony in Okhla, and Geeta Colony<\/strong>, where people stood in queues with cans and buckets, crowding around water tankers amid a severe water shortage.<\/p>\n

These scenes have become a daily occurrence in many areas of Delhi since the onset of this year’s summer season.<\/p>\n

Amid the escalating political tussle over the water crisis, Delhi\u2019s Water Minister Atishi began<\/strong> an indefinite hunger strike on Friday, accusing the Haryana government of withholding Delhi\u2019s share of water. She was joined by Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh<\/strong> and other party members at Bhogal, near Jangpura.<\/p>\n

Before heading to Bhogal, Atishi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s wife, Sunita Kejriwal<\/strong>, read a message from the Chief Minister. She conveyed his distress over the water scarcity affecting Delhi residents.<\/p>\n

“Kejriwal says that when I see on TV the way Delhi people are suffering due to water scarcity, it hurts me. I hope Atishi\u2019s ‘tapasya’ will succeed and residents of Delhi will get relief. I wish all the best to Atishi, may God protect her,” said Sunita Kejriwal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued its criticism of the Delhi government over the water crisis. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj alleged that the crisis has been “orchestrated” by the AAP government to “encourage corruption.”<\/p>\n

“It almost seems that this crisis, which is not a natural crisis, has been orchestrated by the Kejriwal government to encourage their own corruption as well as to encourage the illegal tanker mafia,” Bansuri Swaraj told ANI.<\/p>\n

“Delhi is in a dire state. The entire city is parched, and the Kejriwal government is indulging only in theatrics. Delhi Minister Atishi, instead of working on the ground and taking adequate steps, is now indulging in mere theatrics and is threatening Delhiites with anshan (fast),” she added.<\/p>\n
