Approximately 120 million people were eligible to vote in this election.<\/p>\n

The 12th National elections in Bangladesh concluded with a low voter turnout. Despite isolated incidents of violence, the overall atmosphere during the elections remained largely peaceful.<\/p>\n

Kazi Habibul Awal, the Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh, reported that approximately 40 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in the 12th parliamentary election. He shared this information during a press briefing at the Election Commission (EC) building in Dhaka around 5:30 pm. The polling began at 8:00 am local time and concluded at 4:00 pm. Counting commenced immediately after the voting concluded at centers throughout the country.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, the Election Commission canceled the candidacy of Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, the nominated candidate for Chittagong-16 constituency from Bangladesh Awami League (AL). This decision was made due to his violation of the electoral code of conduct, as he had threatened law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n

Voting was sluggish in urban areas, while rural areas experienced a relatively higher voter turnout.
