UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited, in collaboration with India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, is unveiling the “Green Rising” initiative at COP28 on Dec 8th<\/p>\n

Through the YuWaah campaign in India, the focus is on engaging youth to drive impactful environmental actions at the grassroots level, inspired by the Mission Life movement. The global “Green Rising” initiative and the “Green Rising India Alliance” mark a collaborative effort involving UNICEF, Generation Unlimited, and a diverse network of public, private, and youth partners. The main goal is to mobilize millions of young people worldwide, encouraging their active participation in green initiatives addressing and adapting to the severe impacts of climate change on their communities.<\/p>\n

Cynthia McCaffrey assumed the role of UNICEF Representative to India in October 2022. She brings with her decades of leadership experience and expertise in championing the cause of children and women. She served in UNICEF Headquarters as Director, of the Office of Innovation, and Director and Chief of Staff of the Office of the Executive Director. Before India, McCaffrey was the UNICEF Representative to China.<\/p>\n

As UNICEF Representative to India, McCaffery provides leadership and strategic direction of the UNICEF India Country Programme in achieving results for children. \u201cIndia has made substantive progress for children, young people, and women over the past decades,\u201d said McCaffrey, \u201cI look forward to building on UNICEF\u2019s strong partnership with the Government of India and working together across India to advance the rights of every child.\u201d<\/p>\n
