The background of the tragedy was teenager, Vinay Kumar, alias Lambu had earlier befriended one of the girls during the lockdown, and they used to meet in the fields to talk. He eventually asked for her number, and in his words, Vinay told the police, according to PTI, \u201cWhen I asked her this month to give me her phone number, she did not give due to which I was angry and decided to kill her.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to PTI, the accused, Vinay Kumar told the police that he owned a piece of agricultural land at Baburaha village, near which the three girls were found on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
The senior police officer reported that the ‘namkeen’ packets bought by two of the girls and the prime accused were recovered from the crime spot, along with a cigarette butt and an empty water bottle.<\/p>\n

Unnao District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar said the Uttar Pradesh government will give a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased girls.<\/p>\n
Rs 2 lakhs will be given to the family of the third girl who is fighting for her life, DM Ravindra Kumar added that the cost of her treatment will be borne by the Uttar Pradesh government.<\/p>\n
