Amit Shah arrived in Rameswaram on Friday evening for a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu.\u00a0 He offered special prayers. He was accompanied by Union Minister L. Murugan and other senior BJP leaders, Mr. Shah also performed special poojas to the Spatika linga as part of the auspicious rituals. Owing to security concerns during Mr. Shah’s visit, the main entrance of the temple was closed for devotees, and alternative gates were used for entry.<\/p>\n
Stringent security measures were implemented in light of his presence. Upon his arrival by helicopter from Madurai, he inaugurated the BJP’s Lok Sabha poll padayatra, to be led by the party’s Tamil Nadu Unit President K. Annamalai. The padayatra aims to bolster support for the Prime Minister to secure a third successive term in office.<\/p>\n
During a public meeting held before the commencement of the yatra, Mr. Amit Shah<\/a> strongly criticized the ruling DMK, dubbing it the most corrupt government in India. He accused both the DMK and its ally, the Congress, of corruption.<\/p>\n Furthermore, he questioned the retention of Tamil Nadu Minister V. Senthilbalaji (without portfolio) in the State Cabinet, despite his arrest by the ED in a money laundering case and subsequent imprisonment. Mr. Shah alleged that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin would refuse to accept Mr. Balaji’s resignation, even if he offered to step down, as it might expose the corruption within the government.<\/p>\n
