The countdown for the exclusive commercial launch of PSLV-C56 carrying Singapore’s DS-SAR satellite and six co-passenger satellites begins.<\/h2>\n

The countdown started at the Sriharikota spaceport on Saturday morning, with a 25.5-hour timeline. The 44.4-meter tall PSLV-C56, a four-stage vehicle with a lift-off mass of 228 tonnes, is scheduled to take off from the First Launch Pad at 06:30 hrs on Sunday morning from the SHAR Range. The commencement of the countdown was announced by ISRO at 0500 hrs on Saturday through a tweet stating the launch time as July 30, 2023, at 06:30 Hrs IST.<\/p>\n

During the countdown, propellant filling operations will be conducted in the four-stage vehicle. PSLV-C56 is configured in its core-alone mode, similar to the C55 launch, without the use of strap-on motors.<\/p>\n

The primary payload, DS-SAR, a 360 kg Radar Imaging Earth Observation<\/a> satellite, will be launched into a Near-equatorial Orbit (NEO) at 5 degrees inclination and 535 km altitude. This mission, PSLV-C56\/DS-SAR, is the dedicated commercial venture of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) for ST Engineering, Singapore. Additionally, there are six co-passenger customer satellites from Singapore, all of which will be injected into a 535 km circular orbit with 5 degrees of orbital inclination, as stated by ISRO.<\/p>\n

This marks the 58th flight of PSLV and the 17th flight of its Core Alone configuration. Approximately 21 minutes after lift-off, following the ignition and separation of all four stages, the primary satellite DS-SAR will separate from the launch vehicle and be placed into orbit. Subsequently, in a span of four minutes, the six co-passenger satellites, namely Nulion, ORB-12 STRIDER, Galassia-2, SCOOB-II, Arcade, and VELOX-AM will be sequentially separated and injected into the orbit.<\/p>\n

The entire mission is expected to last around 25 minutes. After successfully deploying all the satellites, the upper stage (4th stage) of the rocket will be placed in a lower orbit to reduce its orbital life. ISRO explained that the spent PS4 stage will be de-orbited to a Low Earth circular orbit with dimensions of 300 x 300 km, using the remaining propellants to ensure a controlled reduction of its orbital lifespan.<\/p>\n
