A decomposed body of a woman was found inside a plastic drum at the Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Baiyappanahalli on Monday night. This was the third such incident in three months and the police officials strongly suspect the hand of a serial killer behind the murder.<\/p>\n
After complaints of a foul smell from the unattended drum next to an automatic sliding door of the railway station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspected the area and found the decomposed at around 7.30 pm.<\/p>\n
After examination, the police confirmed the deceased woman is around 31-35 years old. The CCTV visuals from the station and nearby shops show that the body was brought there by three people in an auto-rickshaw. The investigating officers are examining the visuals for more clues.<\/p>\n
Taking note of the other two incidents in a similar pattern in the past three months,\u00a0 Karnataka police are suspecting the hand of a serial killer behind the incident.<\/p>\n
In a similar incident in January, the body of a woman, also aged between 31-35, was found in a drum at Yeshavantpur railway station in Bengaluru.
\nIn December, another body of a woman was found in a yellow sack in one of the unreserved coaches of Bangarapet-Sir M Visvesvaraiah Terminal MEMU at Baiyappanahalli railway station. The body was recovered among other luggage.<\/p>\n
The investigations into these incidents are still on and the police have not found any leads as yet.\u00a0 Dr Soumyalatha S K, Superintendent of Police (Railways) said the officials will be exploring the similarities between the cases.\u00a0 Bengaluru is on high alert.<\/p>\n
