On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in its resolution UN 68\/205, decided to proclaim 3 March, the international day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) on the planet raise consciousness, knowledge and the marvelous benefits fauna and flora in 1973, as World Wildlife Day. The commemoration was proposed by Thailand to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild rich exotic fauna and flora.<\/p>\n
The theme of World Wildlife Day 2023 is \u2018Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation\u2019.\u00a0 This stresses the importance of collaborative efforts between governments, civil society, and the private sector to translate the theme of World Wildlife Day 2023 into reality.\u00a0 This will also build up responsible tourism that contributes to the conservation of wildlife and their habitats.<\/p>\n
The primary objective of celebrating the day is to raise awareness among the people about the importance of wildlife and to promote the conservation of the planet\u2019s wildlife and their habitats.<\/p>\n
World Wildlife Day 2023 holds great significance in creating awareness about the crucial role of forests and wildlife in sustaining the livelihoods of millions of people, particularly indigenous and local communities.<\/p>\n
This day will stress the urgent need to take stronger steps to reduce emissions, accelerate renewable energy sources, and increase capacity to withstand the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n
