A security guard was shot dead and Rs. eight lakh was looted from an ATM cash van near the Jagatpur flyover in Delhi this evening.\u00a0 The van was outside an ICICI bank ATM for depositing cash when an unidentified man came from behind, fired at the security guard, and fled with the cash.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the cash van arrived at an ICICI Bank ATM near Jagatpur flyover at 4.50 pm for depositing cash.<\/p>\n
The victim, Jai Singh (55), was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.\u00a0 The unfortunate incident happened near Jagatpur Flyover in the Wazirabad area around 5 pm.<\/p>\n
“The incident occurred when the 4.50-pm cash van arrived at the ATM to deposit cash at the kiosk. Just then, a person came from behind and fired at the cash van guard and fled with the money,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi.<\/p>\n
Multiple teams have been formed and CCTV cameras in the area are being scanned to identify the accused and ascertain the sequence of events, police said.<\/p>\n
It is strange that with such a high-risk job, the security guard was alone, nor could the CCTV cameras catch the face of the murderer, who managed to escape easily.\u00a0 Citizens question whether there is complete lawlessness and an absence of protection in Delhi, the national capital of India.<\/p>\n
