Nidhi who is reportedly an eyewitness of the Kanjhawala case wherein a girl identified as Anjali Singh<\/a> was hit and dragged by a car for 12 kms has been called to join the probe, police said on Friday. The latest development in the horrific case comes hours after the Delhi Police arrested one more person in connection with the case, taking the total number of the arrested persons to six. The sixth accused has been identified as Ashutosh. However, five persons were arrested earlier and they are in police custody. The sixth accused was arrested as he had given false information to the police, claimed Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).<\/p>\n \u201c18 teams have been investigating the case on all aspects. Teams have visited the scene of the crime and a postmortem has been done. Five accused are in police custody and interrogation is underway and whatever new clues come out are being verified,\u201d Hooda earlier said.<\/p>\n \u201cPolice have scientific evidence that Deepak who claimed he was driving the car but Amit was actually driving it and does not have a driving license,\u201d Hooda said. As per the investigation done so far and call details, the deceased and eyewitness had no connection with the accused, Hooda added.<\/p>\n Nidhi\u2019s (eyewitness of the incident) statement under 164 CrPC has been recorded, police said. The case of murder is yet to be made because a motive is needed for murder but no motive has been found in the probe so far, Hooda earlier said. The postmortem of the victim was conducted by a three-member medical board at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi.<\/p>\n As per the report, the provisional cause of death was shock and hemorrhage as a result of antemortem injury to the head, spine, left femur, and both lower limbs. The injuries were produced by blunt force impact and possible vehicular accident and dragging. Also, the report inducts that there is no injury suggestive of sexual assault, police earlier added.<\/p>\n The Kanjhawala death case has now taken a fresh turn with the victim Anjali Singh’s friend Nidhi, who was with her on the scooty when the accident took place on the New Year but had fled after the incident, saying that they had known each other only for 15 days.<\/p>\n The Delhi Police visited Nidhi’s residence on Wednesday (January 4, 2023), a day after her statement was recorded, in which she also said that it was for the first time that she had gone out with Anjali. Nidhi was riding a pillion with 20-year-old Anjali, who died after being hit by a car and dragged for 12 kilometers in the national capital. Her body was found in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, giving her narrative of what had happened that night, Nidhi had said that Anjali was drunk and insisted on driving the two-wheeler back from the hotel where they had rung in the New Year.<\/p>\n Anjali has never drunk alcohol in her life, says her mother, and on Wednesday rejected the statements of her ‘friend’ that she was drunk at the time of the incident, and said they had never seen or heard of Nidhi. Anjali’s mother Rekha Devi told reporters that her daughter has never drunk alcohol in her life.<\/p>\n “I have never seen or heard of Nidhi. She never visited our home. She is lying<\/a>.
