Kashmir, Srinagar, Feb 17th, on Wednesday evening, Akash Mehra, a 22-year-old man, the son of the owner, Krishna Dhaba, of a famous vegetable food joint, Krishna Dhaba,\u00a0 was shot at by unknown assailants from a close range.<\/h3>\n

Dalgate is located in a high-security area of the city, next to next to a hotel of 24 foreign envoys. Mehra, critically wounded was immediately taken to a hospital where his condition is reported to be serious.\u00a0 Dr. Nazir Choudhary. The Medical Superintendent of SMHS hospital reported to another news agency KNO that a bullet hit Akash Mehra in his chest and he is undergoing surgery at a trauma ward.<\/p>\n

The shooter had used a pistol and two empty cartridges were recovered from the spot at around 7.45 p.m.<\/p>\n

On a social network, a <\/span>terrorist group, Muslim Janbaz Force claimed responsibility for today’s attack and has linked it to the Center’s new law that allows residents of any state to buy immovable property in Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

The group has warned of more such attacks.<\/p>\n

Subhash Chandra, uncle of Akash Mehra who was in the shop said,\u00a0 “I was inside the shop few people came inside the shop and shot Akash he got two bullets they left and fired outside also.”\u00a0 Official sources report that Krishna Dhaba was full of tourists at the time of the firing. The whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.<\/p>\n

The police are looking at the CCTV footage after some eyewitnesses claimed that the assailants ran away.<\/p>\n

The attack comes on a day when a group of envoys including those from several European Union countries and a few organizations of Islamic Countries” member states began a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to get a first-hand account of the situation of the new union territory, after the recent local body elections.<\/p>\n

The envoys are staying in a hotel two kilometers from the attack site.<\/p>\n

Former Chief Minister of Kashmir, Omar Abdullah comments:<\/p>\n

Very sorry to hear about the attack on the Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar, these attacks are unacceptable. I hope the injured person who is himself associated with the dhaba & is undergoing treatment in a city hospital makes a complete & speedy recovery.<\/p>\n
