Kashmir Valley shivers in the winter as Srinagar witnessed the season’s chilliest night with minimum temperature plunged to minus 2.1 degree Celsius on Sunday even as the Meteorological Department forecast mainly dry weather over J&K during the next 24 hours, officials said.<\/p>\n
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir<\/a>, experienced the coldest night of the season with the minimum temperature plummeting to minus 2.1 degree Celsius on Sunday against the minus 1.6 degrees Celsius recorded a day ago.<\/p>\n The temperature was minus 1.2 degrees below normal during this period of the season, MeT office said. However, the maximum temperature was 0.2 degrees above normal against the 13.8 degrees Celsius recorded today.<\/p>\n The sun appeared in Srinagar with mild fog engulfing the famous Dal Lake, Boulevard Road, and other surrounding parts of the city with mist on Sunday.<\/p>\n The tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir settled at minus 3.4 degree Celsius against the minus 3.0 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night. The ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir had a low of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius on Sunday against the minus 0.4 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night at the valley of the meadows.<\/p>\n However, the temperature was 2.1 degrees above normal during this time of the season.
