UK PM Rishi Sunak gave the green light to a scheme offering 3,000 visas for young professionals from India to work in UK each year.<\/h2>\n

Reports say this occurred hours after the Modi-Sunak meeting, after which UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak<\/a> gave the green light to go on a scheme that offers 3,000 visas for young professionals from India to work in the UK each year.<\/p>\n

The scheme will provide 18\u201330-year-old degree-educated Indian nationals a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in professional and cultural exchange, according to 10 Downing Street.<\/p>\n

The reciprocal route will open in early 2023. \u201cIndia is the first visa-national country to benefit from such a scheme, highlighting the strength of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership agreed last year,\u201d the UK Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement. The confirmation came hours after a brief meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Bali.<\/p>\n

This was their first meeting since Sunak<\/a> assumed office last month. “Prime Ministers @narendramodi and @RishiSunak in conversation during the first day of the @g20org Summit in Bali,” PM Modi’s Office said in a tweet. Sunak said in a statement that the \u201cIndo-Pacific is increasingly crucial for our security and our prosperity. It is teeming with dynamic and fast-growing economies, and the next decade will be defined by what happens in this region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know first-hand the incredible value of the deep cultural and historic ties we have with India. I am pleased that even more of India\u2019s brightest young people will now have the opportunity to experience all that life in the UK has to offer \u2013 and vice-versa – making our economies and societies richer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Indian diaspora forms a large part of the UK’s immigrant population and nearly a quarter of all international students in the UK are from India. The UK is currently negotiating a trade deal with India \u2013 if agreed it will be the first deal of its kind India has made with a European country.<\/p>\n

The trade deal would build on the UK-India trading relationship, already worth \u00a324 billion, and allow the UK to seize the opportunities presented by India\u2019s growing economy.<\/p>\n
