Jalandhar:<\/strong> Due to the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, the farmers’ organizations strongly opposed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally. BJP state president Ashwini Sharma along with other senior leaders had reached the local Company Bagh Chowk<\/a> Sunday to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation and the current political situation.<\/p>\n As soon as the information was received, hundreds of farmers started protesting against BJP. Ashwini Sharma said that the BJP respects the farmers but those opposing our protest cannot be farmers.<\/p>\n To prevent the farmers from reaching the protest site, the police made a barrier with a truck, but the farmers tried to break the truck-barrier to reach the protest site. In the meantime, the farmers also clashed with the police. The farmers staged a sit-in on the road near the BJP protest site.<\/p>\n BJP state president Mr. Sharma reached the protest site from another route. He maintained his distance from the media. On the opposition of the farmers, Mr. Sharma said that in democracy, the constitution has allowed people to oppose<\/a> and put forth their views.
