Fire broke out in the Newborn Care Ward around 02.00 am. The cause of the fire has not been immediately ascertained, but it\u2019s said that a short circuit caused the fire.<\/h2>\n

Pune:<\/strong> 10 newborns died in a fire at a government hospital in Bhandara district in Maharashtra on Saturday. Sivin surgeon Dr. Pramod Khandate of the district hospital said that 17 children between the ages of one and three months were kept in the neonatal care ward.<\/p>\n

This morning a nurse saw smoke coming out of the ward and she informed the doctors. Hospital personnel attempted to save the children. Seven children were rescued, but 10 died.<\/p>\n

According to hospital sources, the fire broke out in the newborn care ward around 02.00 am. The cause of the fire has not been immediately ascertained, but it is feared that the incident occurred due to the short circuit. He said that firefighters are trying to control the fire through firefighters.<\/p>\n

Dr. Khandate said that the parents of the deceased children have been informed about the incident. The seven children who survived the accident have been moved to another ward.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray contacted Health Minister Rajesh Tope and District Collector and Superintendent of Police and inquired about the incident. He has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.<\/p>\n
