Senate decision is seen as a major setback for Donald Trump that the Senate passed the Defense Bill in the name of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)<\/h2>\n

Washington:<\/strong> The US Congress Upper House Senate has rejected President Donald Trump’s veto on the 2021 national defense bill. On Friday, more than two-thirds of the Senate members supported the bill and rejected Trump’s veto.<\/p>\n

The Senate decision is seen as a major setback for Mr. Trump that the Senate passed the Defense Bill in the name of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with a margin of 81\u201313.<\/p>\n

On December 23, the US President declared a veto on the bill. The US House of Representatives on Monday passed a $ 740 billion defense bill by a margin of 322.87. The House of Representatives sent the bill to the Republican-majority Senate for consideration.<\/p>\n

Only through this bill will the next one year be spent on US defense policy.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump opposes some provisions of the bill<\/h3>\n

Donald Trump, who is due to step down in just a few weeks<\/a>, opposed some provisions of the bill. He opposes policies that limit the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and Europe.<\/p>\n

The NDAA also has a provision to ban the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project<\/a> and to take action against Turkey on the purchase of the Russian S-400 missile defense system. Importantly, the president’s signature on a bill passed by the US Congress to the law is required.<\/p>\n

In some exceptional circumstances, the President does not sign or veto the bill. There are differences in such policy-making matters. But two-thirds of the members of both houses can pass the bill by a majority.<\/p>\n
