Around eleven small earthquakes have rattled Jammu and Kashmir in four days and experts assess it is a “seismic crisis”.<\/h2>\n

The eleven earthquakes prompted authorities to activate an emergency plan as experts assess what they have described as a “seismic crisis” and this has triggered renewed concern that a major natural disaster may be close.<\/p>\n

Experts have warned of a bigger earthquake in the region and urged people to take precautionary measures after a series of eleven tremors in just four days, citing intensified activity in the area categorised as highly vulnerable to quakes.<\/p>\n

We cannot predict, the time and date and exact date and location but do believe that there is a consistent seismic activity going around in the Jammu and Kashmir region and can trigger a major earthquake in the region, geologists say.<\/p>\n

However, a section of geologists also believes that these minor tremors as releases of pressure by the earth.<\/p>\n

“In a way, small tremors are a blessing in disguise as the pressure gets released although it can also be a warning sign before big jolts,” reveal experts.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes a vulnerable zone remains quiet, experiences small magnitude earthquakes that do not indicate any bigger earthquake, or can receive a sudden jolt by a big earthquake without any call,” they said.\u00a0 The recent earthquakes are a cause of concern but there is no need to panic.<\/p>\n
