The shooting took place just after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Columbia Machine in Smithsburg, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the area but was quickly found by local police.<\/p>\n
A gunfire battle commenced between him and a trooper. A semiautomatic handgun was also recovered from the suspect’s vehicle, reports CBS News. The gunman \u2014 identified by Mullendore as a 23-year-old Hispanic man from West Virginia, and a current employee of Columbia Machine Inc \u2014 is in custody at the hospital, where he is still being treated.<\/p>\n
Charges against him are still pending. A motive has not yet been determined. Three people killed in the shooting are identified as: Charles Edward Minnick Jr. (31), Joshua Robert Wallace (30) and Mark Alan Frey (50). Smithsburg is about 110 kilometers northwest of Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
