BJP says it respects all religions, strongly denounces insult of any religious personality, suspends Nupur Sharma, expels Naveen Kumar Jindal..<\/h2>\n

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday suspended spokesperson Nupur Sharma from the party’s primary membership over controversial remarks against Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate. Mentioning her views “contrary to the party’s position on various matters,” BJP suspended Sharma with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

The BJP also expelled Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal from the party, saying that his views on social media debauch communal harmony and are in violation of its fundamental beliefs.<\/p>\n

The BJP asserted on Sunday that it respects all religions and strongly denounces insults of any religious personality. “Your primary membership is immediately terminated and you are expelled from the party,” a communication from the party’s Delhi president Adesh Gupta said.<\/p>\n

A communication to Sharma from the party’s disciplinary committee said she has expressed views contrary to the party’s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of its constitution. Member secretary of BJP’s central disciplinary committee, Om Pathak in a letter to Sharma said, “You have expressed views contrary to the Party\u2019s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of Rule 10 (a) of the constitution of the BJP.<\/p>\n

I have been directed to convey to you that pending further inquiry, you are suspended from the party and from your responsibilities\/assignments if any, with immediate effect.” This came hours after the party issued a statement in which it distanced itself from the controversial remarks made by Sharma during a TV news debate. The remarks reportedly incited violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.<\/p>\n

I withdraw my statement: Nupur Sharma Later in the day, Nupur Sharma issued an apology and tweeted: “I take back my words if they hurt anyone’s religious sentiments.”<\/p>\n

Sources report that Nupur Sharma is being opposed not only in India but also in Gulf countries. Indian ambassadors to Kvyat and Qatar have been summoned. Right now the Internet is streaming heavily with Nupur Sharma’s suspensation news.<\/p>\n
