Monkeypox confirmed in 131 cases in 19 countries, says World Health Organisation, the outbreak is unusual, but remains “containable.”<\/h3>\n

Monkeypox can be contained but can be fatal<\/h3>\n

Scientists do not expect the outbreak of Monkeypox<\/a> to grow into a pandemic like COVID<\/a>-19, given the virus does not spread as easily as SARS-COV-2. Monkeypox is a usually mild viral infection that is endemic in parts of the west and central Africa.\u00a0 World Health Organization (WHO) said that outbreaks of monkeypox cases outside of Africa can be contained.<\/p>\n

That number is expected to increase, WHO officials have said, but most of the infections so far have not been severe.\u00a0 However, while the majority of people recover within about two to four weeks without needing to be hospitalized, monkeypox can be fatal for up to 6% of cases and is thought to be more serious in children.<\/p>\n

Monkeypox is a disease caused by the #monkeypox<\/a> virus. It is called \u201cmonkeypox\u201d because it was first found in monkeys.<\/p>\n
