Why Was Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga Arrested<\/h3>\n
BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was arrested by Punjab Police on Friday morning.\u00a0 The father of Bagga said, “The police personnel who came to our home today morning said that Tajinder gave a death threat to Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi Police had no information about the incident; A DCP is here now,\u201d Preetpal Singh Bagga, father of BJP leader Tajinder Pal S Bagga.<\/p>\n
The police also reported,\u00a0 \u201cToday morning following due process of law, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has been arrested from his home in Janakpuri, New Delhi. He is being brought to Punjab and will be produced in court. Further investigation is being done by a special team,\u201d the state police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
On May 6th, the Delhi Police filed an FIR against the Punjab Police for “abduction” and “assault”\u00a0 Hours after being arrested by the Punjab Police, BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga returned to Delhi on Friday evening.<\/p>\n
After Delhi Police took Bagga\u2019s custody, Punjab officers approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the \u201cdetention\u201d of its police team in Kurukshetra. Terming the intervention by the Haryana Police \u2018a violation of law\u2019, Advocate General (AG) Anmol Rattan Sidhu claimed that everything was going as per procedure but the Haryana officers delayed the process. The Punjab government also asked the court to not let the Delhi Police cross the Haryana border with Bagga.<\/p>\n
Following his arrest earlier in the day, Bagga was taken to a police station in Haryana after the Delhi Police accused the Punjab Police team of not following due procedure. A Haryana police officer was quoted saying, \u201cWe have brought Bagga and the Punjab police team to the Thanesar police Station, Kurukshetra. We have questioned the Punjab policemen.\u201d A team of Delhi Police has reached the police station, while Punjab ADGP Sharad Satya Chauhan is also expected to arrive in Kurukshetra.<\/p>\n
The Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar Mohali, had then sent a letter to his counterpart in Kurukshetra, requesting the release of the Punjab Police team and the accused, Bagga, so that he may be presented before the court \u201cin time as per law\u201d. The SSP added that the team is stopped in Haryana \u201ctantamounts to illegal detention and interference in the administration of criminal justice system\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Delhi Police has filed an FIR against the Punjab Police for \u201cabduction\u201d and \u201cassault\u201d. Bagga was picked up by the Punjab Police Friday morning from his residence in West Delhi in connection with an inflammatory statements case. Tajinder Bagga’s mother while speaking to The Indian Express alleged that the police didn\u2019t allow her son to tie his siropa before the arrest and the police assaulted his father while he was trying to take a video of the incident. She accused the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of \u201cdaadagiri\u201d.<\/p>\n
So much for the arrest of Tajinder Bagga that involved three states along with a sensational accusation of kidnapping.\u00a0 People are wondering if all this was just a distraction to keep the citizens’ focus on this, away from the really serious pressing issues in India such as job losses, inflation, crashing economy, and the high COVID death rate that was played down.<\/p>\n
