Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday participated in the Second India-Nordic<\/a> Summit at Copenhagen in Denmark where Prime Ministers of Denmark<\/a>, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway have also participated in the summit.<\/p>\n The summit provided an opportunity to review the progress of the India-Nordic relations since the first India-Nordic Summit, which was held in 2018 in Stockholm. During the Summit, the Prime Ministers pledged to continue to strengthen cooperation with discussions on key issues related to international peace and security. Discussions were also held on multilateral cooperation in post-pandemic economic recovery, innovation, climate change, sustainable development, digitalization, and green and clean growth.<\/p>\n The leaders agreed that pressing challenges such as tackling climate change, the COVID pandemic, biodiversity loss, and increasing food and energy insecurity requires international cooperation.<\/p>\n The Nordic countries restated their support for India\u2019s permanent membership in a reformed and expanded United Nations Security Council. The Prime Ministers agreed to work together to fight and address climate change and safeguard the natural environment. They reiterated their commitment to ambitious cooperation on renewable energy, energy diversification, smart grids, and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n The leaders also agreed that the blue economy can deliver economic growth, new jobs, improved nutrition, and increased food security. They also agreed that a strong collaboration between India and Nordic countries can help promote innovation, economic growth, climate-friendly solutions, and mutually beneficial trade and investments.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Modi invited Nordic companies for investing in the blue economy sector, especially in Sagarmala Project. Mr. Modi noted that India\u2019s Arctic Policy provides a good framework for the expansion of India-Nordic cooperation in the Arctic region. The Prime Minister invited the sovereign wealth funds of the Nordic countries to invest in the country.<\/p>\n After meeting with leaders of the Nordic nations, PM Modi departs for France to hold talks with the French President.<\/p>\n He conveyed that his Denmark visit was productive where the programs covered different spheres ranging from diplomatic meetings, boosting cultural and commercial linkages, and engagement with the Indian community.<\/p>\n He thanked Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the people of Denmark.<\/p>\n About the Second India-Nordic Summit, Mr. Modi said, this summit gave a great platform to discuss ways to boost ties with the Nordic nations. He said, the bilateral meetings with Nordic leaders were productive and he is looking forward to working with them in various sectors aimed at furthering prosperity.<\/p>\nPM Modi departs for France<\/h3>\n
