New Delhi:<\/strong> External Affairs Ministry of India said on Saturday that Indian High Commission in Dhaka was in close contact with Bangladesh authorities over incidents of violence against the minority community in that country. Indian authorities said that such efforts to fuel social and communal tensions were being taken ‘very seriously.’<\/p>\n An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said the Indian government had been informed that law enforcement authorities in Bangladesh were investigating the outbreak of violence and that they would continue to remain vigilant to prevent any untoward disturbance.<\/p>\n The spokesman said, ‘We have seen reports of an incident of violence directed against the minority community in the Muradnagar upazilla of Comilla in eastern Bangladesh. Our High Commission and Posts in Bangladesh are in close contact with local authorities in the government of Bangladesh. They have taken this incident and all other incidents relating to efforts to stoke social and communal tensions very seriously.<\/p>\n The spokesman said India had been informed that law enforcement authorities were investigating the outbreak of violence and they continue to remain vigilant to prevent any untoward disturbance.<\/p>\n Several houses of minority community members in Comilla district were looted and set on fire by radical Islamists on November 2 during protests against French President Emmanuel Macron<\/a>. Reports also said some places of worship of the minority community had been vandalized.<\/p>\n
