Dinesh Trivedi announces resignation from Rajya Sabha membership

Former Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi said that the way violence is happening in his home state of West Bengal, he finds it very strange to sit there. He is feeling suffocated as he is unable to express himself

New Delhi: Senior Trinamool Congress leader and former Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi resigned from Rajya Sabha membership today.

Mr. Trivedi, while discussing the 2021-22 General Budget in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, said, “Violence is taking place in my home state of West Bengal and we cannot say anything.” He said that he is feeling suffocated and cannot speak his mind. Therefore, he is resigning from the Rajya Sabha seat.

He said that the way violence is occurring in West Bengal, he feels quite strange. He said, “My conscious says if I sit here and keep quiet and say nothing, it is better for me to leave.”

“I declare that I am resigning from the Rajya Sabha,” he added. Mr. Trivedi’s tenure as a Rajya Sabha member began in 2020.
